Ahmed font

In early 1980s the first digital font of Ahmed typeface was produced by Ahmed Ali under Linotype-Hell Limited. Its design recalls the decorative & inscriptional tile work lettering of 'Medieval period '. The burly behavior of the tails of certain typescript departs from the traditional style of narrowing these finials. It introduced a present feel in the font design. The complementary proportion of tall vertical strokes & quite extended counters lends a Monumental look to allow its successful use in title. It is a conventional typeface, with opening of medial forms to recover character spacing & equilibrium. It has been transformed into 'PostScript font format' ensuring its sustained fame in a heading face for any newspaper typesetting. It has four weights; Ahmed outline & Ahmed outline Latin and Ahmed solid & Ahmed solid Latin Figures. Two Ahmed Open Type fonts consist of the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI & Macintosh US Roman) and Arabic character set (CP 1256) which supports Persian, Arabic, & Urdu type face. They contain tabular & proportional Arabic, Urdu & Persian numerals as well as a set of tabular European (Latin) numerals.
